Aleksey S. Oryshchenko
GENERAL DIRECTOR
Doctor of Science, Professor,
Honorary Machine Engineer of the Russian Federation,
Honorary Shipbuilder of the Russian Federation,
Honorary Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation
The contribution of A.S. Oryshchenko in the development of national science
and economy was awarded with The Order of St Alexander Nevsky (2017); Badge
of Honor “For services to St Petersburg” (2016); Distinction Mark “For
services to St Petersburg” (2014); Prize of the Russian Government in the
field of science and technology (2011); diplomas of the Governor of St
Petersburg (2009, 2011); Diploma of the Committee for Science and Higher
Education of City’s Administration (2011); Order of Honor (2010); Medal “In
memory of the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg” (2003); The Commemorative
Medal “300th Anniversary of the Russian Fleet” (1996).
Oryshchenko Alexey Sergeevich was born on March 20, 1946. In 1974 he
graduated from the Leningrad Mechanical Institute and began working at the
Central Research Institute of Structural Materials “Prometey”. Since 1981,
Head of the Laboratory dealing with the issues of physico-mechanical studies
of the properties of structural materials exposed to radiation. Since 1997,
Deputy General Director, Head of the Research and Production Experimental
Complex. Since 2008, General Director of the FSUE CRISM “Prometey” (In 2017,
the company became part of the National Research Center “Kurchatov
Institute”).
In 1985, A.S. Oryshchenko defended his thesis for a candidate’s degree
(Physics and Mathematics) investigating small size clusters formation in
metals, dielectrics and semiconductors by positron spectroscopy. In 2008, he
obtained an academic degree of the Doctor of Sciences in Engineering for
development of alloying principles of heat resistant Fe-Cr-Ni based alloys
and technologies of cast products manufacturing out of these alloys.
A.S. Oryshchenko is the head of the Department of Functional Materials and
Technologies at the Institute of Metallurgy of Mechanical Engineering and
Transport of Peter the Great St Petersburg State Polytechnic University;
Chairman of two dissertation councils and Editor-in-Chief of the scientific
and technical journal “Voprosy Materialovedeniya / Materials Science
Issues”.
The scientific school “Fundamental and Applied Scientific Research of
promising structural materials (steels, nickel and titanium alloys) for
nuclear power equipment operating in extreme conditions” was created and
developed under the leadership of A.S. Oryshchenko.
A.S. Oryshchenko is an author of 192 scientific papers, 64 copyright
certificates and patents, 5 monographs, 3 textbooks.
Fields of scientific activity of A.S. Oryshchenko: materials science issues,
metallurgy and welding, structural and technological strength of materials
and reliability of structures; nanotechnology and structural nanomaterials;
radiation materials science.
Oryshchenko A.S. developed theoretical foundations for new heat-resistant
alloys creation and technologies for their mold casting and welding.
Large-scale complex studies enabled him to create new approach to the
development of materials for power engineering. A series of new
heat-resistant alloys has been successfully developed for the production of
high-temperature oil pyrolysis equipment meaning radiant pipes exposed to
highly aggressive environments.
The sphere of scientific interests of A.S. Oryshchenko lies in
corrosion-resistant, high-strength coatings (arc, plasma, detonation,
high-speed), including nanostructured, polymeric structural materials. He
focuses also on high-precision titanium casting technologies. General
Director pays a lot of attention to the reconstruction and creation of pilot
sites for high technology manufacturing, as well as to the promotion of
nanotechnologies. Under his leadership, unique production lines have been
created; new technologies have been developed to ensure the improvement of
operating characteristics of materials created at the institute, in
particular for power equipment, petrochemistry and metallurgy.
A.S. Oryschenko invests a lot of time and efforts into the development of
the Central Research Institute of Structural Materials Prometey (“Kurchatov
Institute”), thanks to that the enterprise is currently the largest of
Russians materials science centers.
